The Landscape Resilience Fund (LRF) is an impact investment fund that will provide funding for climate-resilient agriculture and forestry businesses in developing countries, in order to help vulnerable people adapt to climate impacts, while also delivering biodiversity and climate mitigation benefits. WWF acts as an advisor and service provider for project preparation, landscape development, and implementation, as well as for the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risk management framework in four landscapes.

Our department on Ecosystems and Resources Protection in Berlin, is looking for a qualified person from 01.07.2021 for a limited time span of three years (with possibility of extension) for full time employment for the following position:

Project Manager (m/f/d) ESG Landscape Resilience Fund

Your responsibilities:

Working as a member of the WWF Germany LRF core team, and collaborating with local WWF offices, the ESG Project Manager’s responsibilities in WWF landscapes will include:

  • manage implementation of the LRF ESG risk management framework at project and landscape level
  • lead ESG due diligence processes for investments in SMEs and support them on capacity building
  • oversee the development and implementation of ESG action plans and risk management plans
  • provide capacity building on ESG framework, processes and tools with WWF country offices/local staff
  • support WWF landscape-level activities to map ESG trends and threats
  • lead ESG impact monitoring and reporting processes and support external audits of ESG processes for WWF landscapes

At Fund level:

    Lead the LRF ESG framework and its ongoing improvement Assess overall ESG quality at fund level (including guidelines, regular checks, trainings)

Our requirements:

  • a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in working in an ESG risk management role at a development bank, impact investor or similar
  • knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, ESG risk due diligence processes (including site visits), and ongoing monitoring processes relating to investing in private sector companies
  • experience working in the land use sector (agriculture/forestry), and with SMEs is an asset
  • willingness to travel internationally for site visits
  • excellent English; other languages welcome, particularly German, Spanish and Portuguese
  • ability to operate with independence while meeting deadlines and commitments
  • self-motivated, proactive, organized, and delivery focused
  • adhere to WWF's values: knowledgeable, optimistic, determined and engaging
