These and many other questions were actively discussed with a diverse group of stakeholders at our event, Biodiversity in Cocoa Production, held on 19 May 2026 in Berlin. In addition to insights from our project in Colombia, participants enjoyed engaging presentations and discussions on monitoring, financing, and business strategy.

From Conservation Measure to Corporate Strategy
Rising prices and unstable supply chains – global cocoa production is facing a crisis. Climate extremes such as droughts, heavy rainfall, and flooding are causing entire harvests to fail. Biodiversity-friendly, nature-based cocoa cultivation can offer a way out of this crisis. But how can biodiversity in cocoa production move beyond being solely a conservation issue and become an integral part of corporate strategies and investment decisions? What policy frameworks are already in place, what incentives do producers and companies need, and how can biodiversity-friendly farming practices be measured?
